History

AB Property Services was established by Andrew Barrett and provides a full range of trade services to the commercial, industrial, retail and domestic sectors.

Andrew Barrett has over 20 years experience in the building industry and in 1985 commenced a career in cabinet making, followed as a wood turner, then an apprenticeship in fitting and turning and finally an apprenticeship in roof slating and tiling which culminated in an industry award for best apprentice.

In establishing the company in 1999, Andrew sourced a quality and dedicated team of skilled and licensed trade staff including plumbers, electricians, carpenters, roof slaters and tilers and locksmiths who have now contributed in building the company’s strong reputation, leading most of their peers, if not all, in the area of reliability, service quality and commitment.   These appealing qualities are the reason AB Property Services is in constant demand by numerous property managers, corporate bodies and maintenance service providers and have driven them to a No. 1 rank as a preferred contractor to one of Australia’s leading providers of quality building and asset maintenance services.

As a talented all-rounder Andrew quickly grasped and modeled the company’s core functions around clients’ needs: ‘doing the right job’ and ‘getting the job right’ – the ability to deliver unparalleled and timely service in providing quality workmanship without compromise.

For over 10 years, AB Property Services‘ professional trades team has been made available to the needs of over 4000 clients on a 24 hour basis for various work including but not limited to emergencies of all sorts, roofing, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, renovation, maintenance, demolition, painting, fence and gate construction, metal fabrication and welding.

AB Property Services’ ability to provide a range of skill types and experience to property maintenance, emergency related services and brand new construction makes them a building and maintenance one-stop-shop – a business model providing clients with a cost effective solution to their building and maintenance needs – supported by a fleet of fully equipped service vehicles to minimize time wasting and additional travel time particularly when providing emergency services.

Providing an effective after hours’ emergency service requires considerable experience, dedication and sensitivity. AB Property Services recognize the urgency and importance of responding to an emergency and efficiently securing a site which has been damaged by fire, water, accident or by intention. To that end, the company guarantees to be on site within two hours of any emergency call where the security of the premises has been compromised and/or to prevent further damage.

AB Property Services is located in Kensington, an inner suburb of Melbourne, with offices located in Cranbourne, Dandenong, Diamond Creek, East Burwood, Gembrook, Noble Park, North Balwyn, Preston, Ringwood North and Spotswood. In Victoria they have been known to travel as far west as Ballarat, south to the Peninsula and Barwon Heads, east to Leongatha and Seymour in the north to attend emergency jobs. The AB Property Services network of licensed trades people also extend into Sydney where clients have also been able to experience and enjoy a quality and reliable service.

Who We Are

Andrew Barrett (Director)

Andrew is a Roof Slater (Industry award for best apprentice 1993 in the trade of roof slating & tiling). He commenced his career in cabinet making, followed as a wood turner, then an apprenticeship in fitting and turning. Andrew is the consummate professional in many trades. If you had the opportunity and the desire then I would say to you ‘You will never find a harder working tradesman in your life, no matter how long and how hard you try and what countries you visit in your endeavors’. Andrew’s work ethic is second to none and is immeasurable followed by his high attention to detail.

Ugo Fanizza (Associate Director)

Ugo came to AB Property Services serving 26 years within the Victorian police force. While in the police force, Ugo quickly moved through the ranks to Detective Sergeant. He also completed a Diploma in Financial Planning. He is the Associate Director at AB Property Services and brings a wealth of knowledge, organization and professionalism to the company.

Richard Playne (Director of the Plumbing Division)

Richard commenced his plumbing and gas fitting apprenticeship in 1989 working in commercial sector. After completing the apprenticeship he studied estimating and costing, project management and type b gas appliance installation. From these studies he moved into the petrochemical industry installing water treatment plants and remediation systems. Later on with the company he become operations manager for all projects in south east Australia.

In 2002 Richard returned back to general plumbing and started his own business. The business plan was to specialise in the environmental field, installing solar hot water, rainwater, water auditing for the commercial sector and grey water treatment systems. The business grew quickly and he was soon forced to move into a larger office. In 2005 Richard was award the green plumbers’ individual award and the following year runner up in the commercial green plumbing award. In 2009 Richard went to Germany to study solar thermal cooling technology for 4 weeks. In 2011 Richard received energy awareness award from the PIC training awards. After 10 years of running a successfully business Richard decided to move on to AB Property and apply his knowledge to new challenges.

Jarrod Cummins (Roofing Estimator)

Jarrod brings to the company over 15 years of experience within the roofing industry. His professional approach and willingness to accommodate client’s needs are highly sought after.
He holds all relevant ticks including working at height, boom

Sarah Mercuri (Accounts Administration/Payroll)

Sarah has extensive experience in customer service within the banking and public service sector. Her role includes administration and general office duties and is also responsible for all accounts and payroll.
